Good morning, Silver sun.
Welcome to my kitchen.
You have brought the long shadow with you.
The morning dove coos-
The sound of cars racing along the roads,
Anxious to be to work on time,
Coffee perking.
Some mornings start this way.

We will get no warmth
from the world today,
The puddle in the driveway is frozen
And the air is cold.
The sun is bright and silvery
But is indifferent of our need of its heat.
I know soon we will be saying,
It is too hot to go out in the sun.
* * *
It is winter, Enjoy the clear air
And take your warmth from within
The sun is shining really bright.
It is alright to be a little cold in February,
But if I admit it is cold in the South,
I will just have to say,
"Well, shut my mouth."

It is a smoky day,
The pines across the fairway have no outlines.
Sitting at my kitchen table,
I hear a melody of rain
Playing on the stove hood.
Today we make our own sunshine.
* * *
Same old grey ceiling out there,
Slight tint of green
Do we think it is really fair
For the sun never to be seen?
Oh well! Might as well be
good sports and say,
"We'll try and make it a really
Good Day!"

I wonder why I wake up some days,
Feeling content and rested.
While other mornings I wake
Stiff! and with a heavy feeling in my soul.
Is it the clear cold air,
The sun shining, the moon on the wane?
Is it important that I know, or is it
Just enough to be thankful for
This inner contentment and enjoy,
The feelings of oneness with it all?

I saw the big red sun this morning, Did you?
It was a treat to view by me
And anyone else to see
The sun returns after its voyage below to our world
To let us know we have another day to fill,
With God's will, may we choose well.

There is a solid grey wall where yesterday I saw the sun.
How does it make me feel?
Cozy and comfortable in my house of lights, colors and love,
A morning dove coos, he too is grey.
The grey wall is solid and beautiful.
* * *
The misty wall is back, no shadows today
It is all silver grey and quiet.
A slight breeze jumps on the lower branches
of the pine trees
Now blowing sideways, very gently.
The branches appear to be fanning the morning.
